# Example use cases

License Genie supports the following use cases:

  • License optimization: Generates queries to identify users for optimization, coordinates approval, and then executes changes to reduce license spend.

    • Example: License Genie generates a query to find Salesforce Premium licenses assigned to users who haven't logged in for 60 days. After approval, it identifies 15 such users, reaches out to confirm they no longer need access, then downgrades or reassigns the licenses.
  • License inventory tracking: Ingests and parses contracts to track license purchases and quantities.

    • Example: License Genie processes a Microsoft 365 contract renewal document, extracts the number of Standard and Premium licenses purchased, and tracks this information to help optimize license assignments.
  • Determine user needs: Coordinates with users to understand license level needs.

    • Example: License Genie detects that three users with basic Zoom licenses have hosted meetings exceeding the basic plan limits, sends a message asking if they need an upgrade, then adjusts licenses based on their response.
  • Identify alternatives: Suggests alternative apps or license levels to reduce costs.

    • Example: License Genie identifies that a team is using enterprise-tier licenses but primarily uses features available in standard-tier licenses, and recommends switching to the lower tier or an alternative tool with better pricing for their usage profile.
